Survivors’ Stories: Stand Against Sexual Violence, MOCSA Benefit

AT The Rino

FEBRUARY 28, 2019, with support from Fine Dining Productions and Johnson County Mental Health Center, The Rino will be hosting a very special event called Survivors’ Stories: Stand Against Sexual Violence. All proceeds will go to MOCSA, The Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault.

The evening will consist of a curated lineup of performers sharing songs, poetry, and other performance art pieces that touch on their experience with sexual violence or harassment. Along with providing a safe space where survivors can connect and access services they may need, this is a chance for those who have not dealt with sexual violence to further understand what it means to be a survivor.

TICKETS ARE $15 SUGGESTED DONATION | Those who are able to give more are welcome, no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Valentine’s Ball: Love & Other Ghost Stories
7:00 PM19:00

Valentine’s Ball: Love & Other Ghost Stories

From the quill of host / founder / artist Peregrine Hoenig:

"I have been throwing a Valentines Ball in Kansas City, MO for 20 years. It started at the Fahrenheit as an art show and costumed event with live music and naturally became part of the regional Mardi Gras schedule. Every ball has a love theme - Hunting for Love, For The Love of Money, Love Ambassador - it’s been thrown in amazing places - from the original Golden Ox to early days of The Ship to an antique rug store, Smith and Burstert. Birdies opened on Valentines in 2003 so it celebrates the shop’s inception as well.”

This year Love and Other Ghost Stories is grey costume attire.

Poet Jen Harris & Julia Haile (hale with an i) will be performing.

Thursday, February 14, 7-10pm.

1746 Washington KCMO- the new location of YJ’s Snack Bar.

Admission is free but please bring cash for a variety of provided ways to relax as an adult and celebrate these talented women and the spectrum of love.

Very chill and self-date friendly.
